After examining allconcordance lines of each ditransitive verb in detail, there are totally 30 ditransitiveverbs appearing in DCs in either CLEC or LOCNESS. Then the total frequency ofDCs and the percentage of each ditransitive verb in the tpora are worked outrespectively, which can be seen in Table 5.1:

...........nclusionThe ditransitive verbs investigated in this study are restricted to 85 frequently-used ones by virtue of available data and online Word-lists in Oxford Learner’sDictionaries, which indicates this study on DCs is non-exhaustive and the featurespresented here have partly universal significance. Thus, further studies on DCs couldfind out a more scientific basis for selecting verbs to be investigated, or they couldalternatively start from retrieving the ditransitive pattern, namely, NP+VP+NP1+NP2.The corpus-based study has its unique advantages in that all of its languagematerial is actual and thus it objectifies the use of a particular language, and to someextent, its result and inference are much more reliable, because its probing intooveruse or avoidance is based on probability.
